learn to swim programme

Shropshire Council have teamed up with the STA to operate the International Learn to Swim Programme (ILSP) through our Swim Academies. The incentive based swimming skills scheme has helped millions of children worldwide to learn to swim in addition to adults and people with disabilities.

The ILSP recognises that pupils learn to swim at many different ages and progress at varying paces. The ILSP consists of five progressive schemes which are interlinked. There is a stand alone scheme for people with disabilities, supporting awards for the more competent swimmer and diver and an introduction to the First Aid award.

All levels of the ILSP have clearly defined standards, teaching objectives and learning outcomes. This ensures a consistent level of achievement from a high quality programme. Click the ILSP Progression Chart below to download.
